The Old Loughtonians Blazer

Many years ago, members of the Old Loughtonians Association proudly wore club blazers alongside the traditional tie.

Chris Plant recalls that, up until some years ago, about six of these blazers were still kept in the lockers at the Old Loughtonians Hockey Club. Sadly, over the passage of time, they all seem to have “taken a walk.”

The striking design of the original uniform can be seen in the photo.

When Guy Dixon (1923) published his book, “One Hundred Years of Loughton School”, he was pictured on the inside front cover proudly sporting his official tie and blazer.

Recently, a few members have enquired about the possibility of having a new batch of blazers commissioned. Malcolm Trowbridge kindly looked into the logistics, but unfortunately, the cost would be in excess of £300 per blazer.

Given that many of us are now in our twilight years, it was decided that the substantial expense could quite justify itself.
