Thames River Trip

On Sunday 1st September 2019, we embarked on a Thames River Trip which included lunch and a commentary .

None of us knew what to expect on this outing. It was a fine sunny Autumn day as we eventually assembled at Tower Pier, after realising that two members of the party were waiting at Westminster Pier (Oops!

We boarded the ship/boat and after the usual safety instructions made our way up river whilst the staff took our lubrication orders. The commentary, which was interesting, was a little loud as we all wanted to chat, as usual.

Lunch was then served, which comprised of chicken in a pleasant sauce with dauphinois potatoes and a mixture of vegetables followed by pleasant dessert with coffee.

By this time we had turned around and went downstream to Canary Wharf, when again we made a 180 degree turn and back the Tower Pier.

Once back on shore, some bid their farewells and long journeys had to be made back home, while the others adjourned to the HUNG DRAWN & QUARTERED watering hole, this was suggested by Chris Phillips (1955) who made a welcome appearance on this trip with his wife Kris (very confusing).

I can’t remember the exact time most of us left the pub and made our way to the station to travel back.

All in all, a very pleasant day and always nice to see people that one doesn’t normally see and to have a good chin-wag.
