Golf Day 2025

Monday 12th May 2025 was the 5th year of our annual golf day at Chigwell Golf Club with thirteen old boys and guests teeing off.

The weather was perfect with brilliant sunshine and no wind.

We assembled promptly at 8:30 for bacon rolls and tea/coffee, while our starter Clyde Rodney, an ex policeman, tucked into a hearty breakfast! The first four teed off at 10 o’clock followed by another four, then a pair, and lastly a threesome.

A separate competition was organised for nearest the pin and the longest drive. The nearest the pin was won by Paul Hough (1961) and the longest drive by Derek Jolly (Guest).

The whole round took about five hours before we adjourned to the clubhouse for a fine late lunch of ham, egg, chips and buttered bread, followed by the prize giving.

The winner of the OLGS cup and a bottle of wine was Michael Nicholson (1955) with 31 points – for the second successive year.

The guest’s prize of a bottle of wine was awarded to Nick McDermott with 35 points.

Competition winners Paul Hough and Derek Jolly were each presented with a box of 3 Titleist golf balls which had the highly desireable CGC logo printed on them!

We were more than adequately welcomed at the Chigwell Golf Club so we took the opportunity to book for next year for Monday 11th May, 2026.
