Minutes of the Committee Meeting held on Monday 20th May2024 at 7.30pm at OLHC
Present

The President
Gary Bridger formally opened the meeting and welcomed everyone to the meeting
Silent Tribute
The Secretary informed members that regrettably the following members had passed away
David Kempton (1949) James (Jumbo) Webber (1971) & Graham Bradley (1953) (Martin Darlington’s good friend)
Members were asked to stand for a few moments

Correspondence Received
The Secretary had not received any correspondence and there was no further news from the Hockey Club
Minutes of the Last Committee Meeting
The minutes of the last meeting held on 12th February 2024 had already been circularised.
The minutes were proposed by Michael Lane & seconded by Keith Pye and signed by the President
Matters Arising
There were no matters arising from the minutes
Social Events
The Secretary reported that a River Thames cruise with two course lunch had been arranged for Friday 5th July 2024 at a cost of £56:00 per head and that 23 tickets had been purchased.
A tour of the Mansion House in London with afternoon tea was proposed for September 2024.
Further suggestions were as follows:- The Bank of England Museum & the Old Battersea Power Station, both would be investigated.
Clay Pigeon Shoot
This years CPS will take place on Thursday 27th June 2024 at ESSEX SHOOTING Ground at Fyfield commencing at 11:00 am promptly followed by a buffet lunch at Wood Farm Moreton (by kind permission of the Gemmill family) The cost this year is £65:00 per head inclusive. It had been agreed that for novices supervision/instruction will be provided as well as guns, safely equipment & cartridges.
Reunion Dinner
The hall needed to be vacated by the kindergarten earlier than in previous yeas to allow more time to set the tables out, allowing for more time for meet & greet before the AGM. Also more attention needs to be paid to the wine ordering!
The AGM & Reunion Dinner will take place on Friday 8th November 2024 at OLHC
Treasurer’s Report
The Treasurer reported that the subs & donations stood at £1606:00, interest from the bank was £119:00. The Golf Day made a profit of £24:01. The Association was in a healthy position and the Treasurer reported there was little to add to his report.
Membership Report
The Membership Secretary had no comments to make.
Magazine
Tony Mullins confirmed that we were already over subscribed to maintain a 36 page magazine and some articles would have to be carried forward to avoid high postal costs. A first proof had been sent to the Secretary. Tony & Malcolm would continue to liaise . The President & other members thanked Tony for his hard work & professionalism.
Golf Society Events
A society meeting had been been played at Chigwell Golf Club on Monday 13th May 2024 and had been won by Michael Nicholson (1955) & the guest winner was Oliver Gemmill (Andrew’s Son)
A full report can be found in the next Magazine. The Secretary & Treasurer thanked Bill Bennett, a member at CGC, for his assistance in being able to sign in non-members.

The Webmaster Stefan Sheriden reported as follows:-
Web hosting renewed for 2 years at a cost of £237:00 (Period 25/01/24 to 24/01/26.
Obituaries page added with obituaries for David Kempton & William Geller. Lost in Battle page added with 10 names so far, thanks to Keith Pye for the contents.

Future Events added to calendar-River Cruise, Clay Pigeon Shoot, Annual Dinner & Committee Meetings
2023/2024 Magazine added.
The President thanked Stefan for his continued sterling work & The Secretary asked members to use the website as much as possible as there was so much information available.
Hon. Archivist Report
The Hon. Archivist Chris Plant reported that one of the 17 year old Air Force cadets, Chris Law, who marched with the procession down to the War Memorial on Remembrance Sunday had been tragically killed in a motor cycle accident. Chris also went on to warn members a SCAMs which were increasing.
Any Other Business
The Secretary handed out Old Loughtonians Association Christmas Cards & envelopes which were originally sold to members some years ago and the remaining ones were from existing stock.
There being no further business the President reminded members of the date of the next committee meeting 16th September 2024 and closed the meeting at 8:20 pm; with a vote of thanks to the chair.
